Art Inspiration: Architecture for Humanity

Art I students, here is some more inspiration for you regarding our current space unit:

As we talked about today, architects are professionals who deal with the concept of space on a daily basis. Here is a video about a group of architects from around the world who are using their artistic abilities to help others in need. Watch as architect, Purnima McCutcheon, helps victims of the 2004 tsunami rebuild their community in southeast India. Doesn't art rock?!

Stippling

What's the most recent unit we've completed in Art I? Value.
For our project in this unit, we used felt-tip pens and a stippling technique to draw the light and dark areas we observed on various objects. The results were striking!
See for yourself.

Art Inspiration: Hal Lasko

Hey Art I students, here's a video that might provide some motivation/inspiration for your stippling project. It's about a 98 year old artist, Hal Lasko, who makes some AMAZING pixelated artworks using Microsoft Paint. Below, is one of my favorite of his artworks. Take a close look - it's made entirely out of small squares of color, or pixels!

Ribbons and Spheres

Check out the most recent project we've completed in Art I! It reflects the study of both value and form. Using colored pencil on black paper, students shaded ribbons and spheres to create the illusion of three dimensionality.
